The Almaden Valley Rotary Club is proud to present the Annual Charlie Wedemeyer High School All-Star Football Game, the Silicon Valley Youth Classic. This coming year is our 30th year of honoring graduating senior high school football players. The game is scheduled for Wednesday, July 21st, 2004 at San Jose City College. This year's game is dedicated to Pat Tillman.

Pat Tillman, Leland High graduate and past player of the 1994 All Star football game was killed in action in southeastern Afghanistan. Tillman has become a national hero and the stories on him are too numerous to be included on this website. But read the feature article that was written several years ago when Tillman first enlisted in the Army.

Our intern, Errol Canivel, has arranged some radio interviews and articles for the game.

Seven players were in the studio with KYLD's WILD(94.9FM) Strawberry and Bumrush.

From left to right Will Taufoou, Donte Ellington, Jonathan Price, Willie Price, Hasani Houston, Anthony Reyes, and Andre Robinson. Click on the picture for a slide show of the players in the studio.
There were several great articles in the San Jose Mercury News and San Francisco Chronicle. Check out the Media Relations for all the events and articles.

Congratulations to the Head Football COACHES, Nick Alfano of Santa Teresa High School for the South; and Darren Spence of Santa Clara High School for the North. The coaches have selected the players for their respective teams. The list of players are now in the North & South and Rosters.

All the coaches and players were honored at the Banquet on Monday, May 10th. The featured speaker was former San Jose State player, Neil Parry, who was introduced by John Ralston. Lucy and Charlie Wedemeyer also spoke to the players. The pictures taken at the banquet are used for the game program and are now uploaded onto each of the player's webpage.

We have a very preliminary list of ALUMNI. Click HERE to view this list. Tickets are available to every one of the past participants of the All Star games. Get in touch with us so that we can expand and update the mail list.

We have a great turnout of the San Francisco Gold Rush and high school cheerleaders expected this year. Check out the cheerleader information.

Thanks to all the SPONSORS of the past. We will always be looking for a few large sponsors in the future. We have been blessed with many smaller sponsors that have made this game possible and allowed us to donate to many charities over the past years.

One of the primary charities is ALS. Charlie Wedemeyer has been an inspirational representative and has been a part of the Santa Clara County All-Star Football since ..... Read all about his story.
