The Valley Christian defense, led by middle linebacker Trevin Craig, shut down the Falcons ground game, limiting Scotts Valley to 38 yards. "We felt like we stopped what they initially wanted to do," Craig said. "Then they had to start using some gimmicks to gain some yards. We played a physical style and forced some turnovers, and we're going to have to be even more physical as we start play in league."

Valley Christian catcher Trevin Craig, who was also receiving recruiting interest in football as a linebacker, will play baseball at San Jose State, along with teammates Danny Davis and Matt Carroll. "San Jose State has an excellent baseball program, and they have been playing well in the WAC the last few seasons," said Craig, a strong defensive catcher who hit .350 with six home runs last season. "And I think I'll have the opportunity to play early on, so that played into my decision."

Craig, like Carroll, garnered All-WCAL honorable mention last season, batting .350 with six home runs. He was pursued by UC Riverside. A solid defensive player behind the plate, he was also recruited to play college football as a standout inside linebacker on the VCHS squad. "Trevin Craig is a tough athlete," remarked Piraro. "He is a catcher by trade, but an athlete overall. We feel that Trevin will be a great addition for us offensively. He's got really good bat speed, and being a two-sport guy, is a great competitor. We think that bringing him in, he'll be able to compete for a position as early as his freshman year. We're pleased to have him."
